Mobile Youth Health Centers (MYHC)

The MYHC is a mobile provider of health care staffed by St. Luke's Hospital medical/nursing staff. The goal of this center is to increase knowledge around health related topics of particular importance for the adolescent population as well as decrease absenteeism of all participating students. We provide medical care to the students attending the schools that are hosting our service during school hours with a special focus on students who do not have a family doctor and/or insurance, serving as a temporary provider for acute care issues while we help the family access a regular source of healthcare.

However, our goal is to see every student who has a signed consent at least one time, in which we provide an Adolescent Health Assessment for each student seen. This assessment includes the topics of

  • Medical History
  • Eating/Weight
  • School
  • Friends & Family
  • Weapons/Violence/Safety
  • Tobacco
  • Alcohol
  • Drugs
  • Development
  • Emotions

Services we offer the teens in addition to general well/sick care include nutrition counseling, tobacco cessation counseling, driver permit and working paper physicals.
