St. Luke’s University Health Network welcomes pediatrician, Cheyenne McLaughlin, MD, to ABW St. Luke's Pediatrics-Wind Gap.
Dr. McLaughlin returns to the Pocono area to provide a full range of pediatric medical services ranging from comprehensive well-child visits to acute care for illness or injury for patients from birth to 21-years of age. “The Poconos is truly my home, and I’m excited to provide care to children in my community,” Dr. McLaughlin said.
The move to ABW and back to the Pocono region allows Dr. McLaughlin to be closer to her family. After leaving the area for her education and training, she wanted to begin her practice where she had roots.
Originally from Brooklyn, Dr. McLaughlin and her family moved to Stroudsburg, where she lived until graduating from high school. After successfully completing a 6-year, BS/MD program at Howard University in Washington, DC, she completed her pediatrics residency at Texas Children's Hospital - Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. McLaughlin consistently reassures parents that incidental things will happen and if their child gets sick or hurt, it’s no one’s fault; parents tend to harbor a lot of guilt which she tries to assuage by reinforcing the parent/doctor team concept so they know they are not alone. “I believe that the best medical team for a child consists of the provider and parents,” explains Dr. McLaughlin. “Parents are the real experts in their children’s health, and their expertise, along with my medical knowledge, allows us to make the best possible decisions for the health and wellbeing of their child.”
