Visiting Nurse Association of St. Luke’s, Home Health Division,
Named Among the Nation's Top Home Health Care Agencies

Home Care Elite Designation Demonstrates St. Luke's Commitment to Quality of Care
in the Convenience of Patients' Homes

Bethlehem, PA (2/26/2014) – The Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) of St. Luke's Home Health division recently has been named a Top Agency of the 2013 HomeCare Elite™, a compilation of the top-performing home health agencies in the United States, for the second consecutive year.

“Being named among the nation's top home health care agencies in Home Care Elite for the second year in a row demonstrates the commitment of the Visiting Nurse Association of St. Luke's Home Health to quality of care and excellent patient outcomes,” said Lisa Giovanni, MSN, RN, President, VNA of St. Luke's. “I commend our staff for being recognized for their level of patient care and their dedication to the patients in our community.  This level of performance is achieved by consistently exceeding the patient's expectations, as well as meeting or exceeding national benchmarks for the quality of homecare delivery. ”

One of the Top 25% of Medicare-Certified Agencies

Now in its eighth year, the HomeCare Elite identifies the top 25 percent of Medicare-certified agencies and further highlights the top 100 and top 500 agencies overall. Winners are ranked by an analysis of publicly available performance measures in quality outcomes, process measure implementation, patient experience (Home Health CAHPS), quality improvement and consistency and financial performance. In order to be considered, an agency must be Medicare-certified and have data for at least one outcome in Home Health Compare. Of the 9,969 agencies considered, 2,496 were selected as elite, including 261 agencies that are first-time winners.

“The 2013 HomeCare Elite winners demonstrate a commitment to providing patient-centered care and serving as leaders in the home health community. Their success is a tribute that managing healthcare data and utilizing it for improvement initiatives lead to high quality care, and we recognize them for their outstanding achievements,” said Mary Oakes, senior vice president of post-acute at National Research. “We congratulate the Visiting Nurse Association of St. Luke's on being recognized as a top home care agency.”
