Commemorative Artist Chosen for 2014 Black Diamond Garden Party
St. Luke's Miners Campus Selects 2014 Black Diamond Garden Party Commemorative Artist
Coaldale, PA (2/21/2014) – Bill Moyer, President of St. Luke's Miners Campus will host the 2014 Black Diamond Garden Party Commemorative Artist on Tuesday, February 25 from 3 to 4 pm at the campus in Coaldale. This year's commemorative artist is Mrs. Gerri Gardiner, a member of the Carbon Art League, whose painting was inspired by the caregivers and staff at St. Luke's Miners Campus.
“Mrs. Gardiner's work was chosen from many sketch submissions provided by the Carbon Art League. Her painting will be displayed at the Asa and Harry Packer Mansions during this year's Black Diamond Garden Party,” said Moyer.
He continued, ”Many members of the hospital staff and the Black Diamond Garden Party participants enjoy meeting the artist, donating funds to sponsor the original painting and to purchase signed and autographed prints of the painting each year.”
Proceeds Used to Purchase Patient Beds
The proceeds from the 2014 Black Diamond Garden Party will be used to purchase patient beds that are designed to provide extra support for patient entry and exit, as well as promote patient healing. The iBeds ™ provide advanced options that make them a valuable tool in efficient patient care, Moyer added.
He continued, “Past Black Diamond events have helped create a medical scholarship fund, construct a new Heart & Vascular Center and Critical Care Unit, establish a new day room for our nursing home residents, develop a Cardiopulmonary Rehab Unit and has helped us move forward with plans for a new surgical suite. The event is truly a celebration with our community!”
Diane Luicana, Black Diamond Community Chair shares, "We are so proud of the accomplishments at the St. Luke's Miners Campus. This 2014 painting is the sixth painting in the series: I have all of the prints proudly displayed in my home. The originals are hung at St. Luke's Miners Campus in the Medical School of Temple University/St. Luke's University Health Network Board Room."
