Phillipsburg, PA (4/9/2013) - Congressman Leonard Lance and New Jersey State Assemblyman Erik Peterson toured St. Luke's Warren Campus on Thursday, April 4 as part of a visit to discuss the hospital's previously announced plans for expansion and sustainable growth in Warren County.
“We were honored to have both the Congressman and the Assemblyman meet with us today and tour our hospital,” said Scott R. Wolfe, President of St. Luke's Warren Campus. “We are proud of the $25 million investment St. Luke's University Health Network made to St. Luke's Warren last year and the additional $30 million committed for our main and satellite campuses.”
The 214-bed nonprofit hospital with 854 employees became part of St. Luke’s University Health Network in 2012, and currently provides acute inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical care, cancer and cardiac care and a wide array of geriatric services. The $30 million will be used during the next two years to construct a new Intensive Care Unit, upgrade clinical areas and renovate patient rooms. Further, the hospital plans to expand outpatient services and increase the number of primary and specialty practices located throughout Warren County.
“Warren Hospital has been a vital part of Phillipsburg and surrounding communities for more than 90 years," said Congressman Lance following the tour. "The investments being made by St. Luke's will secure the hospital's future now and in the years to come.” Assemblyman Peterson added, “Warren County for many years has been medically underserved, I commend St. Luke's for addressing this problem and bringing this level of care to the community.”
St. Luke's Warren Hospital provides a long-standing, fully accredited Family Medicine Residency program along with 10 medical school clerkships annually. The hospital also has an established commitment to support and implement community outreach and provide care consistent with its charitable mission. It does this through a formal Charity Care program, free classes to improve the health of the community, educational programs and support groups.
St. Luke's Warren Campus admits 7,133 patients annually (including observation patients), cares for more than 30,000 annual emergency room visits and manages about 96,000 outpatient visits. The active Medical Staff is comprised of 194 physicians.
The hospital operates four outpatient laboratory collection sites, The Balance Center, The Health and Wellness Center, The Comfort Zone (adult medical day care) and the Center for Sleep Medicine, all in Phillipsburg, New Jersey; as well as the Center for Sleep Medicine in Easton, Pennsylvania.
