St. Luke's University Health Network's Chad Brisendine Receives
2013 Lehigh Valley Business "Forty Under 40" Award

Chad Brisendine, Vice President and CIO, St. Luke's University Health NetworkBethlehem, PA (5/29/2013) – Allentown resident Chad Brisendine, Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) for St. Luke's University Health Network, has been chosen as a recipient of 2013 Lehigh Valley's "Forty Under 40" award. The award program, produced by Lehigh Valley Business, honors men and women of the Lehigh Valley under 40 years of age who have made headlines, possess significant authority for decision making within the company/organization, are committed to making a better work environment and have made significant leaps and bounds in their field, according to the publication's criteria. Brisendine was chosen by an independent panel of judges from business and organizations in the Lehigh Valley.

Implemented Technology to Improve Health Care Experience

Brisendine has led St. Luke's to adopting leading-edge technology that improves the health care experience at St. Luke's, according to Joel Fagerstrom, Chief Operating Officer at St. Luke's University Health Network.

“I am extremely proud of Chad and this recognition from Lehigh Valley Business,” said Fagerstrom. “Chad brings passion and innovation to the forever-changing health care environment and keeps us ahead of the curve. He is an outstanding asset to St. Luke's and continues to lead us forward with our technological needs.”

Prior to his position at St. Luke's, Brisendine served as the Corporate Director for New Technology and Delivery for CHRISTUS Health system in Texas. He also served as a Regional CIO for the health system which includes 44 hospitals and facilities in six states and in Mexico. As St. Luke's CIO since 2009, Brisendine is responsible for oversight of St. Luke's Information technology, business intelligence, medical records, transcription, service improvement and the Network's Call Center.

Recognized for Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Adoption Model

Brisendine has recently lead St. Luke's University Health Network to Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Adoption Model Stage 6 recognition, a national indicator of evaluating the progress of hospitals' EMR adoption. St. Luke's was recognized as the first hospital / health network in the Lehigh Valley to earn this designation in January, 2013.

This is a huge accomplishment not only for Brisendine, but for St. Luke's University Health Network, said Fagerstrom.

Brisendine graduated from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas earning his bachelor's and master's degrees in Business Administration.

Brisendine will be featured in the June 17 edition of Lehigh Valley Business.
