Lehigh Valley, PA (11/20/2013) – The Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency Program at St. Luke's University Health Network has been credentialed by the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education as a post-professional residency program for physical therapists in orthopaedics. St. Luke's is one of just eight credentialed orthopaedic residency programs in the state of Pennsylvania and 67 nationwide.

Designed to Give Physical Therapists Higher-Level Understanding in Treatment of Injuries and Conditions
The Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency at St. Luke's prepares physical therapists to sit for their American Board Certification in Orthopaedics through a combination of classes, labs, clinical mentorship, interdisciplinary collaboration experience and extensive clinical experience. These experiences are designed to give physical therapists a higher-level understanding in the treatment of post-operative joints, sports injuries, arthritis and amputations, among other injuries and conditions.
Currently, nine of St. Luke's physical therapists have already obtained board-certification in orthopaedics – a testament of our employees' dedication to their profession and advancement of treatment techniques. St. Luke's physical therapy plans to accept one to three residents per year and become the preeminent choice for post-professional orthopaedic physical therapy education while providing superior patient care.
