Emergency Department Continues to Divert
Coaldale, PA (11/3/2011) - A water main break at St. Luke’s Miners Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, November 2 flooded the ground floor causing the hospital to divert patients from the emergency room and to close some outpatient services.
Most hospital-based outpatient services, including respiratory, cardiology, oncology and the laboratory (limited to blood draws and open between 6:30 am – 5 pm on Thursday, November 3 and Friday, November 4), reopened today – all patients should enter the hospital through the Emergency Department entrance on the ground floor.
Patients who need x-rays, laboratory services and who have non-emergent illnesses and conditions may visit St. Luke’s Urgent Care Center on 1104 North Street in Jim Thorpe until 11 pm on Thursday, November 3. The hours were extended to handle patient volume.
The St. Luke’s Miners Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department will continue to divert patients, and the Radiology department remains closed, until further notice.
Hospital officials have reinstated patient visitation beginning at 12 pm on Thursday, November 3 - visitors should use the Emergency Department entrance.
