Specialization improves survival for patients with cancer. The cancer specialists from St. Luke's Cancer Care Associates have trained at some of the nation's premier medical schools and cancer centers, including the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Fox Chase Cancer Center, The Arthur G. James Cancer Center Hospital at The Ohio Sate University, the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and Case Western Reserve University, St. Luke's Medical Center.

The fellowship-trained cancer experts from St. Luke's Cancer Care Associates specialize in surgical oncology, gynecologic oncology and medical oncology. Training for fellowship-trained surgical oncologists includes a five-year surgical residency, followed by a two- to three-year fellowship in an oncology program. Only 19 oncology programs are approved by the Society of Surgical Oncology.

St. Luke's cancer specialists continually pursue excellence in cancer care by serving as principal investigators in breast cancer vaccine research and melanoma clinical trials, performing major liver resections laparoscopically and offering innovative treatments for women with reproductive cancers.
