What is it?

Cubital tunnel syndrome is an irritation of the ulnar nerve that most commonly occurs in the elbow.

Causes, Symptoms and Risk Factors

Cubital tunnel syndrome can be caused by leaning on the elbow by repeated motions that affect the elbow. Symptoms include:

  • Elbow pain
  • Numbness in the ring and little fingers and elbow pain
  • Weakness in the hand

Tests

The doctor will perform a physical examination and review the patient's symptoms.

Treatment

Treatment involves padding and/or splinting the elbow. Surgery may be required if other treatments are not successful.
