The Patient Care and Affordable Care Act of 2010 requires all nonprofit hospitals to conduct a needs assessment of their local communities and develop a strategic plan to meet the priority needs every three years. St. Luke's University Health Network has a long history of promoting community health, and has actively partnered with the community to complete a comprehensive needs assessment and strategic plan for the Lehigh Valley area.
St. Luke's University Health Network is in the process of conducting a comprehensive needs assessment of the Network's six campus service areas during 2013-16. The needs assessment will include three separate data collection strategies:
1. An analysis of existing community health measures and secondary data.
2. Campus specific focus groups conducted with key community leaders in areas throughout the Network.
3. A survey of Lehigh Valley and surrounding service area residents.
