St. Luke's SteelStacks Farmers Market Returns on August 23 for Fall Run

Bethlehem, PA (8/22/2012) - Following a short break for Musikfest, the bounty of locally grown fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and dairy products returns to SteelStacks tomorrow as the St. Luke's SteelStacks Farmers Market resumes for the fall. The market, located on the Air Products Town Square at SteelStacks, will take place every Thursday, 3 to 7 pm, from August 23 to November 1.

Kicking off the market's fall run Aug. 23 is a variety of special events and activities designed to promote healthy eating, culinary creativity and family fun. Activities and programs include:

  • 3 - 7 pm: Visit the St. Luke's booth to participate in the Vive tu Vida's Farmers Market Scavenger Hunt.
  • 3 - 5 pm: Children's Face Painting by Banana Factory artist Virginia Abbott
  • 3 - 4:40 pm: Ice Cream Pop FREE Raffle by Owowcow
    Join Owowcow as it gives away its “Local on a Stick” Hand-dipped Premium Ice Cream (winners chosen every 10 minutes through 4:40 pm)
  • 3:30 - 4:30 pm: “Five Reasons to Buy Local” Presentation
    Featuring Buy Fresh Buy Local Greater Lehigh Valley Director Lynn Prior (Inside the ArtsQuest Center)
  • 4:30 pm: “Healthy Menu Choices” Culinary Arts Demonstration
    With ArtsQuest Center Executive Chef Chris Nguyen
  • 5 pm: Canning Demonstration with Maria King of Old Mill Gourmet
    Discover everything you need to know to can applesauce, jams and jellies
  • 5 - 7 pm: Live Music on the T.D. Bank Community Stage by Ginger Coyle

The St. Luke's SteelStacks Farmers Market features a diverse array of vendors offering the best and freshest foods the region has to offer. As guests stroll through the market, they'll find delicious, locally grown fruits and vegetables; grass-fed beef and cheeses; delicious smoked meats; artisan breads and homemade desserts; gourmet coffee; vegan prepared foods and desserts; and more. In addition, beautiful functional pottery, homemade soaps, alpaca wool products, estate grown and produced wines, and more are available. All fruits, vegetables and foods are grown, raised and produced locally, with the market a proud member of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chapter of Buy Fresh Buy Local.
