Foot and Ankle Procedures
Ankle Fusion, Transfibular
A surgical placement of pins, rods, plates, screws or bone graft material into the ankle to relieve pain and properly align and stabilize the joint. Patients who may undergo ankle fusion surgery have significant damage to or deterioration of ankle cartilage that can result from osteoarthritis or a severe misalignment of the ankle.
Arthroscopic Ankle Cartilage Repair
Ankle arthroscopy is the use of an arthroscope and small surgical tools to remove debris in the ankle from torn cartilage and repair the cartilage in the joint that is damaged due to injury or a condition, such as osteoarthritis.
Bunionectomy with Distal Head Osteotomy
A bunionectomy is a surgical procedure on the top or side of the big toe joint to remove or realign tissue and bone in the toe, and relieve pain. During a bunionectomy with a distal head osteotomy, part of the foot that is bulging out is removed. A bunionectomy is usually done on an outpatient basis using a regional anesthetic.
Bunionectomy with Wedge Osteotomy
A bunionectomy is a surgical procedure on the top or side of the big toe joint to remove or realign tissue and bone in the toe, and relieve pain. During a bunionectomy with a wedge osteotomy, part of the foot that is bulging out, is cut out in a wedge shape and sewn. A bunionectomy is usually performed on an outpatient basis using a regional anesthetic.
Diagnostic Ankle Arthroscopy
Diagnostic ankle arthroscopy involves using an arthroscope and small surgical tools to diagnose conditions or damage that may affect the ankle, such as debris from bone chips or torn cartilage, or ligament damage from a sprain. A diagnostic ankle arthroscopy is usually performed on an outpatient basis using a local or regional anesthetic.
